PDSA PetAid

File 47             Luxstowe Vets PDSA PetAid

Here at Luxstowe Vets we participate in the PDSA PetAid Practice Scheme, in which we join forces with the PDSA because we believe all animals deserve access to veterinary treatment.

Our aim by joining this scheme is to make sure that clients who fall outside the geographical scope of a PDSA Hospital can still obtain charitable veterinary care for their pet. The schemes success relies upon each party to the agreement acting in good faith.

It is important that you register with the PDSA before your pet needs treatment. On registration PDSA will send you a dated certificate, which will allow you access to PDSA funded treatment. If you do not hold a valid certificate, you will be charged for any veterinary treatment provided. This service is provided at the practice discretion and can be withdrawn at any time.

PDSA PetAid Scheme is available to all our clients for one nominated pet who meets the following criteria:

In receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit

Residents of PL14 or PL13

Your pet is fully vaccinated at all times while on the scheme

You and your pet must have been registered with the practice for over 3 months

All outstanding debt must be cleared prior to registration

Applications are subject to a health check with a senior vet (partner) payable by you

Any services that you require which are not covered by the PDSA PetAid must be paid at the time by you. All routine treatment including vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment etc are not covered.

Each time you bring your pet for treatment under the scheme, you will be asked to make a donation to the PDSA, we recommend £5 or 10% of the bill whichever is greater but any donation is appreciated. PDSA depends on donations, no matter how big or small, to help fund veterinary treatment for pets like yours. Every pound donated makes a difference to a sick or injured pet.

The total annual cost of PDSA PetAid services now exceeds £38 million. This is funded entirely by public support, mainly through donations and gifts in wills. They receive no government funding.

Application forms available from our Liskeard branch.
